Fundraising for my dog Zahn’s chemotherapy
Wellington
My beloved 9 year old dog Zahn has cancer and I urgently need to raise as much funds as I can to pay for his vet fees and his chemotherapy treatment. He’s receiving his first dose of chemotherapy today (7th June 2022) and will receive this treatment every three weeks. The cancer is in his tummy and has spread to his lungs and liver. There is hope! Zahn is a Shar Pei X and I adopted him when he was nine weeks old from the dog pound. He is loved by many, especially me and has survived major surgeries- one was three years ago to save his leg he was hit by a car, had two fractures of the shoulder joint and torn ligament. Massey were amazing and he’s only developed a little arthritis since. Just before Christmas 2020, Zahn had major bowel surgery for a perforation of the small intestine. He then developed peritonitis the next day and had another surgery. He bounced back so quickly. Thanks so much to Central Vet in Wellington! Over the last month he’s been diagnosed with cancer and has been up to Massey to see the oncologist specialist just last week. We’ve chosen the most effective treatment and that can be done at Island Bay Vet which is not too far from home. It’s not cheap, as you all will probably know, between $300-$500 a dose. Some dogs have gone in to complete remission. I’ll post updates regularly.

Zahn’s vet costs for cancer chemotherapy
First round of chemotherapy 12 June 2022
On Tuesday 7th June Zahn had his first dose of chemotherapy and it went well. Over over the following three days he became lethargic and normal and had nausea we went to visit the vet on Friday night and had an anti-nausea injection and some new medications prescribed. The symptoms fit with the time frame after chemotherapy when it is working. Since then he is sprightly again, responding well and in three weeks time the second round of chemo.
