My birthday wish is to help babies!

My birthday wish is to help babies, and their mums! If you want to contribute to this birthday dream of mine, I would be so thrilled! My desire is to become a Lactation Consultant to be able to help mothers and babies here in Romania, where many mothers who wish to breastfeed aren't able to due to lack of support.

Ever since my own darling boy arrived, I have become more and more passionate about breastfeeding! It wasn't an easy journey, but we were lucky enough to have people around us to support us. Many people don't have that opportunity, especially here in Romania where the staff in the hospital are very overworked and not always provided good training to support mothers with their newborns.

I started to think about how I could help them.. And over the past year I've had the opportunity to help and talk to some of my friends to support their breastfeeding journey! I find it so fascinating how it all works and want to learn more! My desire is to become a Lactation Consultant, a certified breast feeding support person, to be able to help more mothers and babies. Breast milk is such a wonderful and free natural first food for babies! It is a shame for mothers who desire to breastfeed to miss out on this opportunity. Not to mention the money saved!

Later this year, I will return to NZ for 2 years and I hope to complete the study and the supervised practice hours and sit the exam while there! I have already begun completing papers online, and have more lined up, but I would love your help to be able to afford this.

If I reach my goal that will cover the cost of the rest of the required subjects ($800) as well as a Lactation consultant course in Bucharest later in the year (or most of an online course if I choose to do it that way!). Even if I don't, every little bit counts and I really appreciate your generosity!
