Please help my Cambodian sister fight the big C.
Nationwide
Last year, Channa was my tour guide in Cambodia. Having grown up in similar political systems and both grappling with horrific atrocities committed and experienced by our forefathers, we quickly became friends and shared tears and laughs... LOUD laughs. After three weeks, I felt I'm leaving a sister behind. We have been in touch ever since via WhatsApp.
Last month, she shared the sad news that she's been diagnosed with the pink ribbon C (I saw all the doctors notes). Channa is currently undergoing all three ways of treatment. That means she has to take time off work for at least three months as she's unable to travel. As a single woman in Cambodia, that means no income as there are no social benefits. She first refused my offer to help but I managed to convince her otherwise... (If you know me, you know how persuasive I can be 😉).
So, here I am asking you to open your heart to this little fighter who is keeping up her spirits and sense of humour. The average weekly salary in Cambodia sits around 250 NZD, so every dollar will go a long way.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Thank you!!! 29 January 2025
Thanks again for your generous contribution. I have great news so far. The chemo shrunk Channa's tumour, and the post-operation analysis showed that it had not spread to surrounding tissue or lymph nodes. She is starting radiation treatment next week to prevent any return. Oh, and her hair is starting to grow back. :-)
Thank you so much, mate! You are a bloody legend!
Thanks heaps, Sharyn!
Whoever you are, I greatly appreciate your generosity. May your kindness be returned tenfold.
