I am riding for awareness of cerebral palsy and hoping that I may be able to obtain donations that will go to the Cerebral Palsy Society
Nationwide
Its been on my bucket list for at least 5 years to cycle from here in Morrinsville to Wellington – a distance of approximately 600 kms depending on route, and I wanted to do it for a good purpose. Cerebral Palsy is something that has affected our family and is my main motivation to complete this ride. My training started in January with 100km of biking a week. It’s now August and I am doing nearly 300km per week, and by departure day may have clocked up just on 10,000kms.
I’m sure some of you based in and around Morrinsville may have seen me out on the road during my training rides – even as far as Richmond Downs, Te Miro , Cambridge, Te Hoe and in-between.
A number of people have already mentioned they want to make a donation in support of the ride so I have set up a ‘Give a Little’ page. All donations will go directly to the Cerebral Palsy Society New Zealand so more families like ours can get the support they need.
I plan to start my ride on Monday 20th September 2021 and will depart from outside my workplace Vercoe Insurance Brokers on the corner of Thames St and Moorhouse St at 9.30am or thereabouts.
Feel free to pop down and see me off, and if you are a cyclist you are most welcome to join me for a few kms – at least its flat terrain for a while!
If everything goes to plan (not too many headwinds for instance) then I aim to arrive at Paremata by the following Saturday.
Any change in my leaving time will be updated on our Vercoe Insurance Facebook page.
Thank you for taking an interest.

My Ride for Cerebral Palsy Final update 1 November 2021
thank you for your kind support and interest you gave me in my cycle ride to Wellington to raise awareness of Cerebral Palsy. I was very fortunate in these unusual level lockdown times to have been able to actually do it and arrive safely at Paremata . So thanks again. Hope everyone has a really nice Christmas. We all need it for sure.
