My son died in China. Help me bring him home.

$25 of $5,000 goal
Given by 4 generous donors in 21 days

Roger Lu, 24, died in Guangzhou in a truly terrible and agonizing death. He is still there. I want to bring his remains home.

Watch the video. It is a Stuff video that eloquently tells the story in pictures and words.

I want to go to China and return to NZ with the remains of my only child, Roger. This cannot be organised from NZ, due to the stifling Chinese bureaucracy, not to mention the large amount of money I will be required to pay to do this.

My son Roger in July 2018 went for a brief holiday in China. He was due to transit through Guangzhou, and then connect with a flight to Shandong in north China. He never got beyond Guangzhou. He died a prolonged and agonizing death over five days.

The last I saw of him was at ChCh airport, for what should have been only four weeks away.I only learned of his death three weeks later, due to cultural ignorance and misplaced shame to the causes of his death.

Roger was educated in NZ at Catholic Cathedral College, Christchurch. He was a good student, and worked for himself making music in NZ and selling it around the world after leaving school. Yes, he stupidly experimented with drugs (synthetics) and within one year his entire personality, friends and mental and physical health changed. He went to China with the intention of visiting his uncle, to try to break the cycle, and was due to then return to NZ to enroll in a residential drug rehabilitation facility.

I do not have the means to do to do these things myself, or those I could call upon to help me.

Please help me to be reunited my only son!

Use of funds

I seek funds for my airfare, various government licences, along with legal assistance within China. I estimate this will come to between $4,000 to 5,000. Any surplus funds will be donated to a reputable charity in NZ.
