My Mother Kelly was diagnosed in November 2015, with Pancreatic Cancer which has now spread to her spine T1,T2,T3 and T4 (metastatics)
Manawatu / Whanganui
My name is Devon Thompson, I am 15 years old. Attending at Wanganui High School, first year of NCEA. I have started this give-a-little page to help my Mother "Kelly Hiroa" in her fight with Pancreatic Cancer. My mother has always said you only get one shot at life. Live it! . I vow to do everything possible to help my mother on this journey and try to ease her pain. She is my rock, my best friend and simply the best Mother a daughter could ever wish for. I cannot imagine my life without her, and I hope that you can help us on our journey.
All I wish for Mum, is that she has the freedom to enjoy her days here and make memories with her family that will be treasured forever.
Please help me to give my Mum a fighting chance against the dreadful statistics of Pancreatic Cancer and let our family keep my Mum, Sister, Aunty, a friend, a mentor, a coach for as long as we can.
This is my Mum's story:
Mum was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in late November 2015.
She was referred to specialists in Wellington, where we thought there was hope for her to remove a good percentage of her pancreas. So she can live longer. Unfortunately the cancer had spread to her spine. And there was nothing more the medical team could do.
Mum was transferred to Palmerston North hospital for treatment.
Mum is on her 5th round of chemotherapy and we both been looking at other alternatives.
My mother is a fighter!
She is the most energetic, kindest and loving lady that has ever graced my life. She has spent most of her life helping other people, and I truly believe that she now deserves a chance for people to help her out with this difficult journey she is on.
She is such a loving and giving person having dedicated much of her life to helping others. In sports, such as rowing and coaching football , Army cadets, and helping the needed.
Mum has put her studies on hold until further notice, she just recently graduated in Social Services.
Mum has always given her time to coach sports. And football has always been a passion since the age of 5. She coaches our Wanganui High School 2nds, XI woman's team. And last year our Wanganui High School Development XI football were runners up in Wanganui , 2nd division woman football .
Mum herself was also a football player and due to her illness she had to give up playing but not her passion. she dedicates her time in coaching the sport she loves.
Mum can be stubborn and will attend any football game and training.
Mum also has a passion in photography and love spending time to help any youth to succeed in life.
All that I ask is for Mum to enjoy her life.
I am hoping to raise money for Mum and I to help with treatment and every day living cost such as house hold bills, my education etc.
