Myself and Mouse (the dog) attacked by 5 bull breed dogs

Twas 6 months before christmas

And I thought it'd be fun

I took my dog mouse

And headed out for a run

Off down the river

Not too far from home

Mouse on the leash

With the sun setting low

When around a corner

We saw not 1 but 5

Bull breeds off their leash

They were ready to fight

We had no where to run

It all happened so fast

2 straight for Mouse

While 1 bit my arse

I tried to pick Mouse up

While the rest did attack

One grabbed hold of my ankle

And we both went splat

By now the Mastiff

Had joined in too

4 pit bulls** and a mastiff

I didn't know what to do

Poor Mouse was being pulled

Every which way

Luckily he's submissive

And a curled ball he did stay

The owner helped save poor Mouse

Crouching over his neck

While I pulled each dog off

As they continued to wreck

Both their owner and Mouse

All I could see - blood and teeth

The owner was yelling

And gritting his teeth

As they bit and they barked

It was quite a sight

I pulled the last pit bulls off

Then the owner did fight

His big Mastiff still

As both Mouse and I ran

He got into his car

All 5 dogs crammed in

Then he fled past us

Leaving the scene

Poor Mouse and I limping

Both in shock but relieved

To survive the ordeal

6 legs we still had

To scared to look at the wounds

I knew they were bad

Now in hospital I lie

With poor Mouse at the vet

2 surgeries between us

Let's hope that's all we get

Now come on council

Please tighten your laws

They should be there to protect us

And our mates with 4 paws

** I can't confirm if they were pit bulls or Staffis but regardless they were viscious and dangerous.

I wrote this poem in hospital following my surgery after being attacked by 4 pit bull looking and one mastiff dog when taking my heading dog Mouse on the lead for a run down our local river track on the evening of Tues 25th June.

It was a completely unprovoked attack and left me with decent puncture wounds and skin missing from my ankle and Mouse covered in bites. All 5 dogs were off the leash with the owner behind them in his car. He had absolutely no control or call back with the dogs and was also badly injured in the attack.

The council laws do state that the owner of the dogs must cover all vet costs and medical costs but it is one thing for him to have to pay and another getting the money out of him.

I have started this page to raise funds to help pay for Mouses vet bills incase we can not recoup the costs from the viscious dogs owner and unfortunately we are not financially in a position to comfortably afford the vet bills, especially as I am now out of action for atleast the next 2 weeks, if not longer.

If the dog owner does front up we will donate the money raised to the SPCA.
