A place to support Noels as she can walk out of this cancer journey!
Annesbrook, Nelson
If you know Noels, you know she is the one who is always there for everyone else. A devoted mum, loving wife, proud nanni, passionate teacher, and sports lover, she has spent her life giving her time, energy, and heart to others. Over the past eight months, Noels has been bravely going through a healing journey with multiple myeloma, facing relentless treatment with incredible strength and positivity.
Sadly, the treatment giving her the best chance is not funded in New Zealand (it is govt funded in 47 other countries but not here). The most effective drug is Daratumumab and is administered in Chch at 10k per shot. Following a stem cell transplant in Feb (in chch for 6 weeks), the preferred treatment for the maintenance plan, will be Dara for a period of time.
After already spending some considerable retirement funds, right now, Kezza and Noels need the same kindness and support they have always so freely given.
Any help, big or small, will make a real difference and mean the world to the whānau.
Noels is my mum. My supportive, fun, hard working, scarily determined mum!
The biggest cost if for the daratumumab treatment. This is close to 10k per dose (administered in Chch). This has been administered most weeks in 2025 and in 2026 will be monthly following a stem cell transplant.
Update from Christchurch Hospital 26 February 2026
Kia ora e te whānau,
Firstly a huge thank you for your generous hearts, it means so much to us. Every prayer, encouraging messaging, financial donation and page share. Thank you!
Did want to give a brief update in that the stem cell transplant has now taken place and we are on day 6 post transplant. Just currently in christchurch hospital in the middle of a bit of a rough patch but the doctors and nurses say we are on track and are where they expect me to be at on day 6, things are being well managed.
We get through this time and move into the more pleasant recovery phase.
Again thanks, please be assured your help and encouragement means so much.
Blessings to you all and your whānau
