Naomi and Nathan's brother lost his fight for life while waiting for a transplant. We are hoping to help them fly back to say goodbye,
Northland
On the 29th of July Naomi and Nathan lost their younger brother, Henry, aged 9. Henry had been battling with an extremely rare disorder, hypoplastic left heart syndrome, since birth and had been on the waiting list for a new heart. Despite this, Henry was a brave little warrior and an inspiration to all those around him. He was a Youth Ambassador for UK based charity Readathon, after experiencing the vital work of storytellers in hospital who would visit him frequently in the wards.
Naomi and Nathan are desperate to return to England to attend Henry’s funeral. However, living and working on the opposite side of the world in New Zealand makes it incredibly expensive for them; an extra financial burden during their period of grief. We have created this Give-a-Little Page in an effort to help ease this financial burden for them. Any extra money raised in addition to flight cost will be donated to the charity Readathon to help fund the vital work they do in schools and hospitals for children.
I have known Naomi and Nathan for over ten years and since then have seen the love they have for their younger brother who admirably fought a terrible condition. I want nothing more than to see them return to the UK to say their goodbyes and grieve without the added financial stress of having to pay for last minute flights. Any extra help they get towards this cost is a massive help during this extremely difficult time.
Thank you 5 August 2016
In less than a week since this page has been opened there has been enough raised to get Naomi and Nathan over to England. They leave tomorrow and we wish them safe travels and hope that by traveling to the UK and saying goodbye they find some closure for a devastating loss.
I want to personally thank each and every person for their kind and generous donations. Know the relief and closure you have helped bring two amazing people during a truly awful time.
