We are a volunteer run free after-school club teaching programming. We are seeking funds to get more equipment.

The Napier Central School Code Club is a volunteer run free after-school club teaching programming to 9-10 year olds. We are part of the Code Club network (https://codeclub.nz/). We meet weekly after school for an hour and work on a variety of programming challenges. We currently have two volunteers running the club: a professional software engineer and a teacher.
The class uses their own laptops (mostly Chromebooks), a few donated school laptops and two Raspberry Pi computers (https://www.raspberrypi.org/).
The Rasberry Pi is a small single-board computer developed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation to promote the teaching of basic computer science in schools and in developing countries. More than 19 million Raspberry Pis have been sold and there is a large amount of online resources and books to teach you how to use them.
The Raspberry Pis and expansion boards (Sense HAT, Rainbow HAT) were purchased by the volunteers. We can only use one at once as we have to borrow a monitor to set it up. We would like to make it easier to set up each Raspberry Pi and allow more students to use them.
After much research, the following equipment is on our wish list:
• Pi-Top CEED is a monitor / case designed to fit the Raspberry Pi and for education (https://pi-top.com/products/ceed, ~$245).
• Raspberry Pi is the base board (~$85).
• A power supply and case if using the Raspberry Pi stand-alone (~$30).
• HATs are expansion boards that provide lights and sensors to control from the Raspberry Pi (https://www.raspberrypi.org/products/sense-hat/, $55, https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/rainbow-hat-for-android-things, $42).
• STS Pi is a robot case for the Raspberry Pi (https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/sts-pi, ~$40).
The goal is to buy 1 Pi-Top CEED. If more funds are available we will look at purchasing:
- 1-2 STS Pi robots.
- 1-3 more Pi-Top CEEDs.
First pi-topCEED received 20 April 2018
Got one and it works! Received a pi-topCEED and a RaspberryPi and assembled them together and all working.
Still waiting for the STS-Pi (robot) to be delivered.
Use the remaining funds to order a second pi-topCEED, hopefully will get a little more money to get a RaspberryPi to go inside it.
I've asked a few local IT companies if they'd like to donate, one declined and awaiting responses on the others. If anyone knows any company that would be willing to help out please let them know of this site.
