To buy nectar flowers for our butterfly garden at the NZ Flower and Garden Show, end of November 2017.
Auckland
Did you know that butterflies and other pollinators thrive on nectar flowers? And without pollinators there would be a lot less food in our supermarkets? We want to show visitors to the NZ Flower and Garden Show (Auckland, 29 November - 3 December 2017, just how colourful and vibrant a garden can be. But we need your help!
The Moths and Butterflies of New Zealand Trust was founded twelve years ago to help education New Zealanders about the need to protect our moths, butterflies and habitat. We see the NZ Flower and Garden Show as a great place to convey our message to gardeners, to help them understand the need to look after our pollinators.
The Moths and Butterflies of New Zealand Trust is a registered charity committed to protecting butterflies, moths and their habitats across New Zealand.
Funds raised will be used to buy colourful nectar plants, all the colours of the rainbow. In fact, when you make your donation, please tell us what colour you'd like us to buy.
Butterflies still need nectar! 5 April 2023
There are so many different nectar plants - natives and introduced - some for our big butterflies like the monarchs, and others which suit the tiny butterflies and moths. And we know that our campaign that year at the Flower Show made a difference for those who saw our exhibit.
We are now working on a very exciting project which will go live in three weeks. As you have previously supported our cause we thought we'd give you a hint that this is about to happen...
We will keep you posted - but most of all, we want you to know how much your support is helping us make a difference for NZ's butterflies and moths.
Look at the copper butterflies in this little video clip. They sure are enjoying the nectar from this old-fashioned rose!
