Neighbourhood Support Palmerston North

Palmerston North Neighbourhood Support is a community-focused charity that aims to help residents make the homes, streets, neighbourhoods and communities of Palmerston North safer and more caring places to live in. We promote and support the development of Neighbourhood Support throughout the Palmerston North suburban and rural area, as well as Longburn, Aokautere, Ashhurst and Tokomaru.

We are piloting a new Junior Neighbourhood Support programme in 2019 and hope this will continue far into the future. This will involve children in Years 5- 8 who live within our Neighbourhood Support area.

We work in partnership with Palmerston North Police, Civil Defence, New Zealand Fire Service and Palmerston North City Council (PNCC).

There is no cost for joining our network of neighbours and you have the assurance of being part of a network that has over 9,500 (local) households that are registered with us.

The benefits of joining Neighbourhood Support include getting to know your neighbours; receiving regular, accurate crime information via email; free information about crime prevention and disaster preparedness; confidence that your neighbours are keeping an eye out for you and your group members; and an opportunity to be involved in your local community.

We need your help to continue doing this work within the Palmerston North community. As one of the 1700 registered charities within the Manawatu area, we rely on grants, donations, sponsorship and fundraising to operate our services.
