We need to transport the original steam locomotive which ran on the Nelson Railway, from Wellington to Nelson for restoration

Nelson / Tasman

The Nelson Railway Society has accepted for restoration, the original steam locomotive D143 which ran on the Nelson Railway from 1875 until the early 1900's. This locomotive also known as "Trout" (see photo above) is of great historical value not only to the Nelson Railway Society,, but to the people of Nelson and railway enthusiasts throughout New Zealand. Once restored, it will be used on our vintage railway based at Founders Historical Park in Nelson
