NET - Nepal Earthquake Appeal: 100% of donation gets through

$19,681 donated
Given by 98 generous donors in around 8 months

The Monsoon rains come in June. With homes and food stores destroyed, the need to rebuild is urgent. Please help. 100% of funds go through.

Auckland

Entire hillside villages in the Gorkha region of the country have been flattened by Saturdays earthquake. Thousands of families have lost their homes, and food stores have been destroyed.

For nearly 15 years NET (Nepalese Education Trust) has been working to provide education opportunities for the communities in the remote Gorkha region of Nepal. With the help of our supporters we have built class rooms, provided school materials, and funding for teacher salaries and student scholarships.

But now the need is not only important, but is urgent as well. Food supplies have been destroyed, and with the next harvest not due until October a food crisis looms. Furthermore the monsoon season starts in June, and thousands of families will have little protection against torrential rains.

Please help the communities of Nepal rebuild their lives, by donating now. Even $10 will go a long way. We are a small charity run wholly by volunteers so 100% of your donation will go through to the communities of the Gorkha region to help purchase much needed food aid and construction materials.

Thank you for your support

Paul & Katherine Goldsmith

Having backpacked through Nepal in the 90's and experiencing the poverty there first hand Paul & Kath decided they wanted to do something to help. With the help of Kaths parents they established the Nepalese Education Trust in 2001. Paul has spent the last 5 years working for World Vision, and Kath is a full time primary school teacher. Paul and Kath travelled to Tanzania with their three children in 2014 having raised funds to construct two water wells for communities living in the remote Bukene region. Paul has now finished working for World Vision and is a full time orchardist, Dad, and working voluntarily for NET. Paul is also deputy chairperson of the Oratia Primary School Board of Trustees, and a Trustee of the Oratia Community Church.

Paddy & Margaret Marshall

Having travelled to the remote villages of Nepal in 2001, Paddy & Margaret decided they would like to help in the area of education. Although retired Paddy and Margaret lead an active life of community service. They can often be seen manning the sausage sizzles, making jams and preserves, knitting kiddies clothes, and selling plants and crafts in an effort to raise funds for NET. It is their inspiration and dedication that keeps NET ticking over during the busy and hectic schedules of everyday busy family life. Paddy and Margaret are also trustees of the Oratia Community Church.
