Bella needs TPLO surgery to fix her deformed knees
Nationwide
7 months ago I had a nasty fall and suffered a head injury that left me needing to resign from my job that I had been in for almost 7 years.
My puppy and pal Bella the Rottweiler was there by my side for months when I was in a bad way.
Now its Bella that needs help, and I'm asking you to help me with that.
Unknowing to me, Bella was born with deformed knees.
They were a ticking time bomb, and 3 weeks ago, her cruciate legament snapped when she was playing.
Due to Bella's ever growing size, there were only two options
a) TPLO Surgery
b) put her to sleep
I couldn't do that to this gentle giant.
Unfortunately, the surgery is very expensive. And needs to be done on both knees due to the derformity.
Due to being off work while I was rehabilitating from my head injury, I cannot afford to cover the costs.
TPLO Surgery - tibial plateau levelling osteotomy - is the best (and only option in dogs Bella's size) way to stabilise knees. It involves cutting the skin bone and using titanium plates & screws to secure it in place.
The surgery is $3200 per knee, rehabilitation sessions, plus follow up x-rays in 4 months to confirm that the bone and titanium rod has fused together.
The surgery takes 12weeks to recover from and will give Bella 95% function, which is fantastic.
Any left over money will be donated to Saving Hope Foundation.
Thank you so much
**Update: Bella has had her left knee (the injured one), repaired. The vets are very happy with how the surgery went and how she is recoverying post op.
TPLO surgery $3200 x 2
Confirmation x-rays $400 x 2
Hydrotherapy $500
