We are currently fundraising for a brand new, inclusive playground for all ages at Memorial Hall, Wellington Road, Marton.
Manawatu / Whanganui
Help us to transform the Memorial Hall playground on Wellington road, Marton into an exciting, challenging and fun play space with natural features, inclusive equipment and something for all ages.
The playground at Memorial Hall park in Marton was built in 1951. The only other playground in Marton – the one at Wilson Park – was built in the 1970s. Both have had minimal work done since their construction and are dated and worn.
We are raising $1.1m to transform the existing Memorial Hall playground into a destination playground that is accessible to all (including those with disabilities). We have currently raised over $500,000 (through grants and donations) and every donation (big or small) gets us one step closer to our goal of a completed playground by 2021.
The new playground is being designed by landscape architecture firm Boffa Miskell, and will include natural features, artistic expressions and age-appropriate, challenging and fun equipment. It will include seating and picnic areas and will cater for children of all ages and abilities.
Marton Development Group (MDG) is an incorporated society that was formed in 2018 with the purpose of redeveloping the playground. Its committee is made up of a diverse group of local community volunteers.
Help us champion this fantastic town by contributing to a project that will help children and families grow.
