This new trail will run down 8 Mile Rd from Tikitapu Rd, to the 8 Mile car park. It will be completely hand built, 3.5km, and a grade 3-4.

Bay of Plenty

This grade 3-4 hand built single track, will start where Tikitapu Rd joins 8 Mile (just up further from where "No Brains" exits), and finish at the 8 Mile Rd car park - a total length of about 3.5km.

Tikitapu is the Rd which "Kung Fu Walrus" currently exits onto. As bikes are restricted to be on 8 Mile Rd (from the car park gate upwards), this trail will allow riders to safely exit the forest from this side of the network. Trails such as "Kung Fu Walrus" and "No Brains" have up till now encouraged riders to access the restricted part of 8 Mile Rd, which is sometimes heavy with Logging truck traffic. The new trail will provide an exit trail for these riders off the road.

The trail will be cut into forest on the right hand side of the Rd, and will take riders all the way on single track, back to the 8 Mile Rd (shuttle) car park.

For those who are not sure where Tikitapu Rd is in the forest - check out the forest map in the following link.

Tikitapu is the Rd which borders our trail system on the far East side of the forest.

Once funds are raised, and the trail is built, this trail should be around for decades. We have very clever and professional builders who will be hand building this trail, so that it will have the most flow and best use of the terrain. Professional builders also ensure a sustainable track for a minimal amount of maintenance for the club and riders in the future.

The club has this year decided on 4 new trail for the forest network. Along with having to reinstate old trail due to felling, and an increase of maintenance needed on the 160km of single track in the forest (due to increase number of riders these past year), we are stretched for funding. Trails such as the new 8 Mile Rd trail, bridge a gap, and help keep riders utilizing all trails available, while keeping everyone safe off the roads.

More than that is that this trail is going to be EPIC!
