NICKY'S BRAVE BATTLE TO BEAT MS

$9,785 of $100,000 goal
Given by 77 generous donors in one year

Please help Nicky on her journey to fight the horrible disease (Multiple Sclerosis) that has plagued her life for the last 20 years or so.

Wellington

My gorgeous sister Nicky has made the biggest/hardest decision of her life by deciding to go to Russia at the end of October 2018 to halt the progression of Multiple Sclerosis.

Nicky is a hardworking, single mother to her 13 year old son Zac. Nicky was sadly diagnosed with Remitting Relapsing MS at the young age of 22. She was quickly diagnosed as she had the classic symptoms of pins and needles in one hand and one eye was temporarily partially blind.

About 6 years ago her neurologist told her she had progressed to Secondary Progressive MS which means she is now getting slowly get worse and will continue to do so. She used to love hiking, running and walking but now her feet are continuously numb and sore and she can’t walk for long before her right leg gives way on her. She also suffers from severe fatigue, chronic headaches, and memory problems and has continual pins and needles in her left hand.

After a lot of researching and discussions with others, Nicky has made the brave decision that she needs to try and raise enough money to get to Russia for a Stem Cell Transplant. This treatment resets your immune system and halts the progression and activity of MS. This is a 4-5 week treatment where your stem cells are harvested, treated and frozen. Nicky will then go through an intensive 4 days of chemotherapy to destroy her immune system. After that her stem cells are put back into her body to stimulate the growth of a new immune system free from the memory of MS.

To cover all the costs she needs to raise a massive $100,000 NZ and although this seems like an insurmountable sum every dollar donated gets her nearer to her goal. Nicky really needs to do this, not only for her future but also the future of her 13 year old son Zac. Nicky wants to be able to support him and be there for him as he grows up.

Please help Nicky battle this cruel and unforgiving disease. She has done everything she can to keep herself as well as possible over the years but MS is unrelenting and if she doesn’t do this she is likely to become severely disabled. As she has now progressed into the early stage of progressive MS, she really needs to act soon.

Thank you so much for reading her story. Any amount no matter how small all helps and would be truly appreciated.

Please follow her progress on my facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/nickytooley2018/

She would really appreciate it if you could "Like" and "Share" her page to get the word out as widely as possible. Thanks so much.

Janine Gray's involvement (page creator)

I am Nicky's sister and I am helping her to raise funds to go to Russia to get a Stem Cell Transplant.

Use of funds

The funds will be used for the Treatment in Russia, flights and airfares for Nicky and her support person. If there is any surplus monies raised or for some reason I cannot go I would like to donate the money to someone else with MS who needs to go.
