Mission to Seafarers provides welfare to visiting seafarers in over 200 ports around the world.
Wellington
Following major health problems and surgery twice last year, I needed to get fit again, at the age of 77. The opportunity came at the beginning of March to participate in the London Nightrider Challenge on 9 June, the aim being to cycle around the middle of London during the night in aid of Mission to Seafarers. The ride is 50 kilometres, and starts and finishes at the Olympic Park at Stratford, East London. Funds raised in New Zealand are to be passed to Mission to Seafarers in Wellington for local use, although the ride is at the other end of the world.
I have been involved in Mission to Seafarers for many years, more recently as the Regional Chair and Director for Oceania in a purely voluntary capacity.
I am a volunteer with Mission to Seafarers and am raising funds by taking part in a Nightrider Challenge in London on 9 June.
The funds will be used to provide additional facilities for seafarers, all funds raised being utilised within the Mission.
Many thanks, Reg. You are a gem. Peter
