A call for help to support Nora's family while they battle cancer.
Nationwide
My good friends life was turned upside down not more than two weeks ago when their five year old daughter was diagnosed with Hepatoblastoma, a rare cancer of the liver found in children. I now sit writing this, awaiting the regular updates of a sparkly, strong five year old who is about to undergo 6 months of Chemotherapy to shrink a large tumor on her liver. The tumor on Nora's liver will eventually need to be removed, however at this point it is still too large to do so (14cm x 8cm to be exact!).
The next 6 months are going to be trying times for the Guises. There will be weeks spent in hospital, daily trips in and out of town and a number of costs to be incurred. Elyse will not be able to work while caring for Nora and Rohan has just started a new business, so financially these will be trying times. On top of this they will be going through the emotional trauma of seeing their child so unwell as she goes through treatment.
We are lucky that a Mother's intuition and our health system has jumped in to get the battle underway as quickly as possible. While physically fixing Nora ourselves is not possible, we CAN support this amazing family with funds to make things run smoothly.
I am a good friend of Elyse, Rohan and their two beautiful girls, Nora and Thea. I know many people who want to support them in this difficult time so decided to sort out this page.
This money will be used to assist the family with extra costs they will have over the next few months. For example, travel costs, decrease in income, hospital parking (can be up to $200 a week!), car seats for other family members etc.
Round One...Done! 30 August 2018
Firstly - a huge love filled thank you for the kind donations. It brings me to tears thinking of the generosity that all of you have shown towards Elyse, Rohan, Nora and Thea. I know they are so grateful for the support you have shown as their battle begins.
Nora has just finished her first round of Chemo. She is facing vomiting challenges from the Chemo and has been put into isolation. Her blood counts are very low, so is currently having a blood transfusion. Let's hope Chemo is doing a good job and she is well enough to get some well-earned rest at home soon.
Once again - THANK-YOU! xx
