Helping a 4 year old girl whose foot rolled over tragically day before Christmas Eve

Christchurch, Canterbury

At a room in the children ward in Christchurch hospital is not the place anyone want to spend their Christmas in (even though the view is lovely and the doctors , nurses and hospital aids team are angels). Yet unfortunately due to a being in a wrong time at the wrong place at a tragic accident happened in a hot summer just a day before Christmas Eve, 4 year old girl Felicity had her foot rolled over by a car in the Hoon Hay suburb. Three ambulances came assisted her to the hospital where she ended up spending her Christmas and most likely an extended period of time.

Felicity is having her left foot repaired by the doctor and nurse team at the hospital. She had her CT scan, she had her first big surgery and she will have another small operation on Saturday which is Christmas day and another major surgery last 6 hours on Monday involving putting grafting, prosthetic to fix her gnarly injured foot 🦶 . Then she would have appointments with orthopaedic, physiotherapist teams and follows up. Such a challenging time a 4 year old girl has to overcome.

I am a friend of Felicity’s mom and seeing the poor little girl crying and moaning in pain from the nasty injury was heartbreaking. Felicity’s mom said when this horrible accident happened a part of her soul died, forever. She was barely processing the whole ordeal and it took a while to sink in. All her tears has been dried up yet every time she closes her eyes the image of her little daughter’s gnarly smushed foot appeared. Felicity and her mom both has nightmares and startled at night.

However Felicity is such a brave and clever girl that is doing well and trying hard every day. Her mom and extended family are very grateful still as it could have been worse. They are thankful for the support that they’re receiving.

I am raising this fund to help Felicity and her siblings and her mom with the financial support during this difficult time. It also helps in term of emotional support for Felicity and her family as a consolation for the tragedy they have encountered. Every dollar counts to assist this little girl on her journey to recovery. Felicity’s mom is unable to work due to focusing on caring for her daughter in her recovery journey.

Skin graft taken off and mom shaves head at $3000  8 January 2022

Posted by: Thi (Tu) Nguyen

I would like to say thank you to all who has donated, sent love and support to my daughter and me. We are much appreciated and send blessings to you. You have been truly helping us thru this hard time ♥️♥️♥️. Thanks again to my family, relatives, friends, teachers, and anonymous donors. Amazing human beings act of kindness when others are in need.

Felicity 4 surgeries has been successful and her skin graft took of❤️‍🩹🦶, thanks to the plastic surgeons and orthopaedic doctors. Those first few days after her major surgery they were watching the “flap” like a hawk to make sure its alive. Her thigh where donor skin and muscle site are sore but will heal with time. She is happier and more alert (after the painkillers morphine, ketamine etc worn off) and has got her appetite back. She enjoyed Santa visit in the hospital who gave her gifts generously(a Kittycorn that she really love and colouring books and pencils). She likes being looked after by nurses in children surgical ward. She sometimes told nurses and visitors in a serious tone that “you don’t want to be hit by a car, no no” as a way to share her traumatised experience. She will be in wheelchair for about 3 months and then move on to crutches. She will need another operation to take out the frames that holding the bones in place.

I will shave my head when donation reaches $3000 as a sacrifice for my daughter’s injury. Felicity was so perfect when she was born as I first held her, she is the most beautiful flower of the bunches. She is the most exuberant, empathetic, kind and caring girl I know. Til this day and probably years later I still wish the accident didn’t happen to her but we can’t turn back time. I will shave all my hair that I have been nourished for a year and was intended to grow long so it is a sacrifice but nothing compared to what my little daughter has been through.

Please donate to help Felicity in her road to recovery and rehabilitation as we need financial support with paying bills and living expenses. Every dollar counts whether its $5, $10 or $50.

Sometimes I went on give a little page and donated to causes, little did I know one day we’re on this site waiting for help. I would help you if you’re in need and hope you’ll do the same.
