We are fundraising for the ongoing costs of chronically ill child, Noah Gordon who has ankolysing spondolitus.
Southland
Over the last 13 years, quality of life and the health of a fun-loving young boy Noah has gone downhill.
He was born with a rare disease known as ankolysing spondolitus. One of the side effects is that parts of his spine fuse together causing debilitating pain. This has grown worse through the years causing him to miss large amounts of school, losing weight, unable to walk at times and in tears as the pain is so debilitating.
Due to the nature of the disease, his parents Julie and Dan, are taking care of him 24/7 - often carrying him around the house when he can't walk. It took a long time for Noah's rare diagnosis to be discovered after a tough journey with a lot of doctors, experts and medical professionals. In October of this year, he was given the final diagnosis which finally gives him a medical plan moving forward.
The impact on Julie and Dan's finances has been great. Since Noah's care is 24/7, this means that they are also down to one income, but some of the medical costs of Noah's care have been taken over by the private healthcare system (approx $120/session) that they are paying out of pocket.
As any parent would, they want to do everything within their power to help their son and give him some semblance of quality of life.
If you would like to help, they would greatly appreciate it. We want to be able to help them and ease the burden during this stressful time.
I'm one of Julie's close friends and watched them walk this journey the last several years.
The money will go directly to Julie and Dan to put towards the ongoing costs of caring for Noah and his quality of life.
Noah Gordon (not Paterson) 29 November 2017
Hi everyone, for some reason it's showing up on the title as Noah Paterson and not Gordon. Also, he is chronically ill, not critically ill... oops!
