Update on current squirrel events
5 November 2025Sooo, it's been a while, but I wanted to thank you all for your support. I've been working towards Auckland Marathon, which just happened on Sunday 2nd Nov.
It's been a long time since I last updated you. Let me say, I've been accepted into the Tokyo Marathon in the ballot bib entry, yay! Since securing my spot, I've also paid for the flights & started the process of booking the accommodation.
If you want to know about the Auckland Marathon, it went well. It's a very early start, (it always is) and I managed to get to the start line in my van. It was a rushed start with many of our wheelies, like always, stressing about the start. Tire pressures, wam up, etc. We're all excited and nervous as heck. For some of us, it's was their first marathon, or half marathon.
Auckland is an incredible marathon event. It starts in Devonport, on the flat, then after about 80meters, smashes straight up Church Street hill. Ouch, into that hurt locker early. After a short (actually long) climb, there's a slight down hill into Narrow Neck, followed by another uphill, turn right, and more uphill. That just continues, sharp left hand, then downhill past Belmont School. Don't be fooled by this nice reprieve, because then it's a tight, sharp right hand onto Lake Road. Once on Lake Road, more undulations until the bus terminal at Smales Farms. Followed by Auckland Harbour Bridge, etc
Anyways, thanks, needless to say, the 6star squirrel journey continues... :-D
