I'm raising funds to help two fantastic children’s charities “Cork City Hospitals Children’s Club” from Ireland and “Koru Care New Zealand”.
Every year these two charities bring smiles to the faces of hundreds of sick and terminally ill children. Both charities are dependent on the generosity of donations and fundraising to ensure they can continue to do their work so any donation that you can make would be greatly appreciated.
This December, I will be undertaking the trek to Everest Base Camp in aid of these two fantastic children’s charities. The trek will take approximately 11 days, beginning on the 23rd of December and at its highest point we will reach 5545m.
Info on the Charities:
The Cork City Hospital Children’s Club charity was set up 27 years ago, with the aim of bringing sick and deserving children on a trip of a lifetime. Currently each year they bring approximately 40 children to Euro Disney and provide 240 sick children with the chance to meet Santa at a winter wonderland. The trips would not be possible for these children without the medical back up that the charity provides. They also provide trips for terminally ill children and their families to make cherished memories.
All this is made possible by the generosity of the public and fundraising events. Each volunteer happily devotes their own free time and holidays in order to keep the club operational and to make these trips possible. The volunteers consist of Gardai, Doctors, Nurses, Social Workers, Child Protection Officers, Paramedics and Pharmacists.

Since 1983 Koru Care New Zealand has been working to bring joy into the lives of children with major health issues. During these years they have helped more than 10,000 children and their families by giving them some unforgettable experiences.
What Koru Care New Zealand is best known for is taking groups of children with major health issues to far-away fantasy destinations such as the Gold Coast, Australia and California, USA. Other activities include supplying educational and play equipment, setting up toy libraries, taking children on special day excursions and an annual Christmas Cruise.
The children who participate in these events are often referred from other child organisations such as @Heart, Kidney Kids, Child Cancer, Cystic Fibrosis and other community organisation that have deserving children that fit the criteria.
To undertake these major events, Koru Care New Zealand is reliant on the generosity of trusts, grants, businesses and the general public-there is no government funding. We also encourage families to help with fundraising in some way. This could mean writing letters seeking sponsorship, joining a local fundraising activity or finding a novel way to raise other funds themselves. Kids really get a kick out of helping to fundraise and often come up with brilliant ways to do it.
Koru Care New Zealand is always fundraising; from holding Charity Auctions and formal dinners, to the selling of Entertainment Books and auctions on Trade Me. If there is any way you can help whether financially or volunteering on an event, please contact us.
