Nationwide

The New Zealand Equestrian Advocacy Network has been formed to be an umbrella under which all District and Regional Equestrian Advocacy groups can sit. The creation of this network has come about because of a growing frustration in the Equestrian community about our being left out of district, regional and national planning, design and construction of new infrastructure, and any long term planning for our needs.

We as a community need to unite and support each other. We must engage in local and national government processes so that we are not left out and so that there is a future for leisure and sport riding in New Zealand for the next generations.

We are working towards becoming a registered charitable organisation in order to achieve our goals and support horse riders now and in the future but this wil take time and money.

What we aim to achieve:

1) A change in legislation for better road safety for horses and their riders and official recognition of Bridleways.

2) A change in legislation to protect our access to public places (Beaches, DOC land, crown lands, regional parks etc.) and return access that has been removed from horses in favour of other users.

3) A change in legislation to require our inclusion in planning and infrastructure on a central and local government level.

4) Highlight the ecomomic AND recreational benefits to NZ of the sport horse industry. something that has been ignored.

We aim to ensure there is a future for the sport and leisure horse riding community for our future generations, because if we don't do something now we will continue to be excluded and future generations will not enjoy this Kiwi way of life.

Use of funds

The donations will help us achieve these changes by enabling us to pay for legal assistance and utilize it for the enhancement of all recreational horse riding in new Zealand.
