Bay of Plenty
This March we defended our title as NZ champions at the NZ Rafting Nationals held on the Buller River, and are the NZ Junior Representitives traveling to Japan for the 2017 World Rafting Championships, where we aim to take the title as Junior World Champions.
The WRC competition consists of 4 disciplines – Sprint, Head-to-Head (H2H), Slalom and Downriver. The points earned in each discipline are added to determine the Overall winner and final positions. Teams from all over the world attend with 1 women’s and 1 men’s team from each division. These divisions being: Junior, Youth, Open and Master.
This years team includes:
Kelsey Eames,Tenaya Chater, Annaliese Heuvel, Bella Uhl, Raine Cooper, Te Waia Nuku, Georgia Dobbe, Ani Chater, Coaches Nick Chater & Geni Walters.
Unfortunately, the rafting industry does not get fully funded, and this is an expensive trip for us. This is why we ask for your help!! To train, travel and compete in Japan is going to cost 8 girls and a manager/coach $30,368.50, which comes to $3,374.28 per person.
This is an amazing, but incredibly expensive experience and we need as much help and support as we can get to succeed in our journey to Japan.
Funds will go towards our travel, accommodation and uniforms...
