Ocean's Craniosynostosis Surgery. (Allowing room for her brain to grow)

Ocean Skyla- Rose loves life, she needs to be able to continue to enjoy it.

Bay of Plenty

Our 19 month old great granddaughter, Ocean, who is a very bright and active little girl is having serious surgery at Starship hospital in Auckland on the 25th February.. The sutures in her head have closed too early so her brain has no room to grow. She will undergo about 6 hrs of surgery on her skull and will be in Starship approximately 3 weeks. Her Mum Jacqueline will be staying with her and her Dad Billy would also like to be with her for most of this time. Her skull will be cut from ear to ear and front to back. Recovery will take time and many follow up visits will be required. The family lives in the BOP.

She loves to sing and dance which we as a family hope too encourage. This is a very difficult time for our family and especially her parents and Oceans siblings.

Hi I am posting this on behalf of Sue collier (mum) I am Oceans Nan on her fathers side (my sun is Billy). First of all thank you all that have donated to help our moko Ocean Ngā mihi nui (Thank you very much). Ocean has now had her op and is doing well thanks to all the love and prayers that have been shared for her. She still has a long journey to full recovery but things are looking really positive at this stage. Our grandchild, moko, dawta, sister, niece, cuzzy, is strong. She has 41 screws in her wee little skull and her eyes are closed due to the swelling of her eyes this should go back down in the next couple of days. She has laughed and talked with us but gets tired quite easily and I guess the pain medication and pain dosent help her but she is amazing her mum and dad and youngest brother Issac are with her and me and some other whanau will be going back up tomoro. Im not sure how many stitches but she has them from ear to ear too many lol but she still has most her hair which surprised me. Please feel free to pm me on face book if theres anything you want to know or share my name is Kathy Collier. I will try and share some photos soon again thank you all for your kindness.

Ngā mihi nui – Kind regards (with more emphasis on gratitude) Oceans nan Kathy and whanau xxxxxxx
