Support the OCTACAN appeal by donating coins for cans. $1 = 1 can. Help us re-stock Dunedin's busiest foodbank over the cold winter months.
CAN YOU HELP? Support the 10th annual OCTACAN appeal by donating coins for cans. $1 = 1 can.
OCTACAN is the annual mid-winter Family Works foodbank appeal. OCTACAN is crucial to stocking Dunedin's busiest foodbank over the cold winter months when demand for emergency food parcels is even higher than normal.
The foodbank currently provides families with about 10,000 food items each month, supporting over 2,000 children in the past year.
When times are hard, Dunedin shows its spirit of generosity. Your support will help us reach our 2018 target of 18,000 cans.
We are asking you to help by encouraging everyone to take part, make it fun with some work place events or competitions and donate your coins to the foodbank.
*Physical cans can be donated during OCTACAN on Thursday 21 June at the Lower Octagon before 2.30pm or directly to the foodbank at 407 Moray Place, Dunedin.
Use of funds
$1 = 1 can. If we exceed our goal funds will be used by Family Works to purchase emergency food items throughout the year.

Presbyterian Support Otago works for a fair, just and caring community.
We have two distinct areas of service in the Otago community – Family Works and Enliven services for older people. Family Works delivers social services for families, children and young people in need. Our services range from giving immediate assistance, such as food parcels, sourcing emergency housing or providing advocacy support, through to the more complex social work responses associated with family breakdown, violence and abuse.
In addition, Family Works provides a counselling service, therapeutic and educational group programmes for children and parents, and work with vulnerable young people.
Our Enliven service includes seven care homes throughout Otago, community-based care such as volunteer visiting, meals on wheels and social activities for older people living alone.
Our services are available to all people in Otago, no matter their religion, cultural background or age.
