A big thank you to everyone who supported and donated towards Odie's care. His passing was very unexpected and heartbreaking. The bullet was only located last week when Odie began having bowel problems. Odie has been in our care since October 6th 2020 and there were no signs of Odie being shot. The amazing Vet David Kettles had said if he hadn't known of Odie's history and the bullet, the bullet would've been passed off as a lump. It was an old wound, and the bullet had formed into a lump with blood vessels and possibly nerves attached, hence Odie's eventual health problems. The lump would've grown too big for Odie's body to handle. We are devastated.

It's suspected to be a .22 bullet, Firearm ammunition. Odie is a very lucky and incredible cat for surviving and living through that horror. So Odie the Bulletproof Wonder Cat suits purrfectly.

We are awaiting the invoice from the Vet, but the donations will pay for the surgery, last weeks overnight stay at the vet + 2 after hours vet visits, and towards Odie's Memorial/Cremation fund. Any extra funds will be used for rescuing, socialising, desexing and adoption of wild and stray cats. At KittyCat Rehoming we currently have 23 cats and kittens in our care.

Foster Mum and Coordinator Rachel - "He was only in our life for 23 weeks but he taught us so much and has left a big hole in our hearts and home. Rest in Peace you incredible soul. You were taken far too soon and deserved so much more time 😔 It was a blessing to have you in my life, you brought so much happiness and laughter into the household. It took 3 months for you to understand love and when you finally did you had endless amounts to give. I will never forget our time together🌹 It was a pure joy to watch you come out of your shell and become a happy, trusting and loving cat for the first time in your life. Watching you learn to play and act like a kitten is a memory I will forever cherish. Charlie finally found a friend to play with and I'm sure he will miss your cheeky ways. I already miss your cute little chirps, and watching you zoom around the house. I will forever appreciate the time spent with you and I'm honoured to have earned your trust and form a one of a kind bond. The home will never be the same without you. 💔 Until we meet again Odie"

I'm in tears here for that poor wee boy who was just starting to enjoy his life, and so so angry at the person who could do such a heartless thing to an innocent wee cat. RIP Odie XX

Aww so sad, poor Odie. I too am very angry at the person/s who did this terrible thing to Odie.

May Odie have lots of butterflies to chase and mouses to catch over the rainbow bridge xx

I'm so incredibly heartbroken to update that Odie has now passed on. During surgery it was discovered that the bullet had turned into a fused lump and whilst trying to remove the lump a blood vessel was nicked and Odie could not survive the surgery so he was put to rest 💔

  • Surgery Day!

Today is going to be tough 💔 Odie's been dropped off at the vet and the phone is on loud for when they call. We had another rough night euth bowel straining so I contacted the vet at 8am. It's the exploratory laparotomy surgery to start with today, and if there are further complications with the bullet or Odie's suspected mega colon the Vet will call during the surgery. We need all prayers, good vibes and kind words our way. Please direct them onto Odie ⭐ We are hoping for the absolute best, but in the worst case scenario we have discussed euthananisia as a team and if it is vet recommended I will take Odie home with me for the night to at least stay up with him and say goodbye until he returns to the vet the next day. Please keep all fingers, toes and paws crossed team 🐾 And endless thank you's for all of your support.

  • After Hours Vet #2. 4am 28/3/2021

We've returned home from the afterhours vet yet again. Odie's displaying the same symptoms from last weekends visit, straining to poo and trying to go anywhere and everywhere every 5 minutes.

The vet sighted the xrays and is worried that it may be more problematic - that Odie may have a damaged pelvis, and the bullet could have possibly fused to his suspected mega colon. Its been 36 hrs since the enema and whilst he's eaten, it seems too soon for him to be trying to poop and straining again. A minor enema was performed to clean him out and try help him to poop, but unfortunately it did not. So Odie's on the good Temgesic painkillers again which will hopefully get him through until I call the vet first thing Monday morning. ⭐

Until more xrays are taken and the surgery goes ahead we won't know if it's the bullet or whether he's damaged/broken his pelvis, and if that's the case it won't be a good outcome for our boy 😭 Please please please keep all fingers, toes and paws crossed 🐾 🤞
