Funds are required to meet the costs of an editor and graphic artist for a book on the History of Timaru's iconic Old Bank Tavern
Canterbury
Timaru's iconic Old Bank Cafe & Bar a former Tavern & Hotel has stood in the centre of Timaru's CBD on the Main South Road known as Stafford Street since 1864. It has served the local community and passing travellers exceptionally well during this period of time and it is now time to tell her story. The Publicans, their wives or husbands and family's, the many staff and most of all look at some of the well-known patrons who have frequented her, during my time as the publican.
As publican during the 1990s and for well over the past 5 years I have been researching and compiling the Old Bank's History. A large unedited paper has emerged coupled with images and statements from various selected patrons. This information is now ready to be put in front of a professional editor who will make it book ready to then go on to the second phase of the process where a graphics person will assist with cover design, editing suitable images and final layout. Finally, it will go to a local printer where we expect to run off 500 copies.
As a former publican of the Old Bank, I decided to write a book on its fascinating history and have been researching the past publicans, owners, staff and patrons since my tenure.
To assist meeting the costs of 1. editing the draft copy of the History of Timaru's iconic Old Bank ready to publish, 2. graphic input on layout and overall artwork and 3. the first 500 book print run.

Funding is now required to meet the final costs of our editor and graphic artist.
The story of Timaru's iconic Old Bank Cafe & Bar a former Tavern & Hotel has almost been completed and we are in the editing stage. I ask again from those friends of the Old Bank who haven’t helped before to ‘give a little’ and get this publication off to the printers.
