It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the unexpected passing of Oliver Joseph Henry Hayes a.k.a. OLIE BASSWEIGHT on Saturday 7th June 2025.
CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF OLIE BASSWEIGHT -
A legend in music, in life & in magic, his creativity was out of this world.
A remarkable individual, a prolific artist and an unruly, unforgettable soul.
Though your life had it's chaos,
Your memory's a treasure,
You are loved beyond words
and will be missed beyond measure.
As we come to terms with Olie’s passing, we are faced with the difficult task of saying our final farewells & arranging our last goodbyes.
Olie's funeral arrangements are underway, however we were not prepared for the high cost of a funeral service. Despite our best efforts, the financial burden is overwhelming and we humbly seek support from family, friends & the community during this already challenging time.
My begging bowl is empty.
One small grain of rice can grow to become a meal to sustain my body.

A fundraising effort has been launched to help with the costs associated with funeral costs, including funeral home services, burial/cremation expenses, memorial venue & service arrangements. We would like to honour his memory with a truly unique farewell.

We have lost a true genius, not only musically but across the board in life. A habitual line stepper, fearless in the face of persecution. Often ahead of his time in the way he thought and acted, Olie was often misunderstood. He was one of my best mates and closest confidants, and I miss him so much already.
