Ollie needs a new kidney but due to his health deteriorating he cant receive one right now. He is now unable to work and needs your help!
Canterbury
Ollie was born in kidney failure and received a kidney transplant in 1995 at the age of 18 months old, making him the youngest patient in New Zealand at that time to receive a kidney transplant.
Gratefully he had that kidney for 18 years but unfortunately it failed in 2013 where he went back on dialysis for a second time.
Ollie has been on the transplant list waiting to receive a new kidney but to date there has been no matches from family or friends that have been tested or kidneys available that have been a match.
Last week Ollie got extremely sick and it was decided to try another form of dialysis on him, hemodialysis. He is in the process of learning how to use this new machine and we hope to have a machine set up at home in the near future that Ollie can use himself.
Many thanks for the amazing support we have received.
Ollie is a much loved member of our extended family and we all want to see him get better and get a new kidney.
The funds will be used to help Ollie get through while he is not working. Having financial help will ensure that Ollie can concentrate on getting better so he can get back on the transplant list.
Cloudy day here! 23 May 2017
Hi everyone. Last night I had a CT scan on my chest and they found a cloudy area on my lungs. I have been tested for TB (tuberculosis) but won't get the results for a couple of days. In the meantime I have to wear a mask and all those that come in contact with me. So if you were thinking of visiting, you will have to wear a hospital mask until I get the all clear. On the plus side,my potassium has come down and I've realised the terrible headaches I have been getting have been self inflicted from fluid overload. I'm going to have to be super careful to keep to my 1 litre limit. Even a mandarin has 60ml of fluid in it I've just learned. Thanks again for all your support. Ollie 👍
