We want to support his family in Bangladesh so that they can have ongoing income for many years. Faruk was the sole income earner.
Canterbury
Faruk is a highly skilled welder who came to Christchurch for the rebuild in 2015. He worked at E4 Engineering and later Bromley Steel. He came to New Zealand for a better life and to support his family in Bangladesh. He wanted to get Residency in New Zealand.
He has supported his mother and 1 sister as well as his wife, Neha. His father died a couple of years ago after sickness so he has been the sole income earner for many years. His wife is 4 months pregnant. The family now , has no financial support. There is no social welfare in Bangladesh and families rely on their sons working overseas. Faruk has no brothers, he is the eldest with 3 sisters.
2 sisters are married.
Faruk has been loved by many people in Christchurch and New Zealand. He was very skilled and a very hard worker. He spent little money on himself - his family in Bangladesh relied on him.
He should have been safe in New Zealand.
I am the support person for the family in Bangladesh. He lived with me for 3 years in New Zealand and I am handling his affairs.
The funds will be provided to the family for their ongoing living costs - this includes his mother and sister as well as his wife AND his unborn child's future support and education costs.
