  • Update on Shannon

      20 June 2019

Firstly we want to say thank you to everyone for your support, kind wishes and donations. It is truly appreciated.

Shannon has had a full on time of late.

Unfortunately he developed an infection and ended up back in hospital delaying the start of his treatment and meaning he was unable to make it to Gary and Jess's wedding.

The first 2 weeks of his treatment went well but he was very tired. In the course of the next week Shannon developed another infection, this time resulting in surgery to insert a drain tube and bag into the tumor itself. It meant he had to spend Queen's birthday weekend in hospital. There is still a long road ahead for Shannon. He completes his first round of treatment tomorrow and we are hoping he will feel well enough to attend prizegiving on Saturday.

Early August he will have an MRI and meet with dieticians and the surgeons to discuss how well the tumor has reacted to the treatment and what surgery he will need to have next.

At this stage the worst case scenario is he will need to have his entire lower bowel, bladder and prostate removed. Best case they will only need to remove his lower bowel. After recovering from this estimated 4 to 6 months he will need to have iv chemotherapy, timeframe for this is unknown at this stage.

Again we can't thank you all enough for all your support to us all throughout this journey we really do appreciate it.
