Amanda has three sweet little girls who need their mummy! Come on Warriors, let's give Amanda's daughters more time with their Mama.
Nationwide
Amanda is an Air NZ Flight Attendant, and the proud mummy of three beautiful little girls; Valentina aged 3, Nouvel is 6 and Monet is 10.
On Boxing Day 2014, Amanda was admitted to hospital with abdominal pain. Initially doctors thought she had a liver infection after contracting Giardia, but a few weeks later, it was discovered that she has cancer on her liver, and also her bowel.
Amanda's oncologist has told her about an unfunded treatment that is available here in NZ, but it's also available in Australia - at half the cost. So Amanda is planning to go to Wesley Hospital in Brisbane to have Selective Internal Radiation Therapy (SIRT). This specialized treatment can precisely target the tumor. It comes through an artery into the leg, and places radioactive beads directly into the tumor in the liver.
Amanda is a determined fighter, and like she says, she didn't have children to leave them. But this isn’t about Amanda anymore. It’s about creating memories for Valentina, Nouvel and Monet. Losing your mum at such a young age, is simply unimaginable. But with our help, they can all have at the very least, an extra two years together.
Amanda has been working hard to raise to the money she needs, with the support of her friends, family and even complete strangers. Currently they are short by $20,000 and I know that together, the One Dollar Warriors can raise that in no time.
So come on Warriors, let’s give Valentina, Nouvel and Monet many more years with their mum.
As One Dollar Warriors, we know we can change lives.
