Help to fund Maths teacher Anne Goulters cancer treatment
Orewa, Auckland
Last year Anne was diagnosed with a rare form of melanoma, which resulted in her eye being removed. Anne demonstrated her strength by returning with renewed passion to her teaching job with an eye patch & later a prosthetic eye. Unfortunately in November, Anne and her incredibly supportive family (husband Paul, daughter Bella & son Anthony) discovered the melanoma had metastasized to her liver. There is no treatment available in New Zealand & if treatment is not sought Anne will be fortunate to see another Christmas. Her current goal is to be able to travel to the States next year with Bella & Paul to see Anthony graduate from Drake University.
Anne has been granted compassionate entry to Sydney's St Vincent's Hospital program for the successful drug tebentafusp. This means staying four weeks in Australia, personally paying all expenses. If all goes well, then every subsequent week, Anne will fly to Sydney for the drug infusion. The financial amount involved for this long term treatment is significant.
For almost forty years, Ms Goulter has taught & coached thousands of students at Orewa College. If you know her as a friend, masters athlete competitor, remember her as a colleague or teacher of you, or your loved one, & you would like to contribute, every little bit will be highly appreciated. Anne has positively impacted so many lives & we hope the community that she has nurtured over the years can now provide support for her in her time of need on this difficult journey.

Anne is back teaching 5 April 2024
Thank you to everyone who has contributed, shared the Give-A-Little or had Anne in their thoughts/prayers these last two months.
Anne now has a new normal where she travels to Australia every Sunday and returns to Auckland 24 hours later after her infusion. Hopefully in a month's time Anne will see the benefits of these infusions when she has her next MRI to measure the tumours.
Anne is enjoying being back at school and having some normality surrounded by colleagues and students. Students all talk about Anne being a role model who isn't giving up and always has a smile on her face. She is a true inspiration.
The treatment and costs will be on-going, so any further donations and prayers will be truly appreciated.
