Raising funds for Murray and Joy Webb from the Waitakere Baby Coffin Club.
Auckland
Hello, my name is Lisa.
Mitchell and I lost our precious son Conor Michael Kivits who passed away during labour and was delivered by caesarean at 12.38pm on Thursday 18th June 2020. He was so perfect and will be in our hearts forever.
The love and support we have received over the last few months brings tears to my eyes
On the 18th October I will be running my first ever half marathon in memory of Conor as he would have been 4 months old on this day.
I would love to give people the opportunity to sponsor me so I can gift all of the funds raised to Murray and Joy Webb from the Waitakere Baby Coffin Club.
Five years ago Murray and Joy started a charitable group that builds, decorates and donates baby coffins to the North Shore and Waitakere hospitals. The coffins come in four sizes and are made available to grieving parents free of charge.
Murray makes the solid wooden boxes and the couple sand and paint them. Other volunteers then make the interior lining and decorate the lids with artwork. A lot of love goes into every one of these coffins which take at least a week to make one.
When Conor passed at full term there was no coffin his size available at the North Shore hospital.
The hospital got us in touch with Murray and he and Joy were so caring and understanding that they finished a coffin for us within a couple of days and invited us to their home to pick it up. What they do for grieving parents is truly amazing and we will forever be grateful for their generous offer of a beautiful coffin for Conor. I would love to help them in any way I can and this seemed like the perfect way to say thank you.
Thank you to everyone who donates. Every little bit helps.
See you at the finish line. Wish me luck!
Murray and Joy Webb gave us a coffin for our precious Conor when he was stillborn in June
To help pay for materials to build baby coffins which are donated to the North Shore and Waitakere hospitals.
Crossed the finish line 18 October 2020
What a buzz. Finished my first ever half marathon. Will definitely be doing another one. I went in to today with an injured knee and after the first 10.5 kms it was excruciating. To the point where I thought I might pass out but I was determined to finish for Conor and for Murray and Joy.
It was so lovely to bump into Joy before the race as she was doing it too.
So proud that I crossed the finish line.
2 hours 18 mins. Think it will be a trip to the doctors and physio tomorrow.
Thank you to Mitchell for all the great photos and videos. You are truly amazing for all the support and encouragement you have given me as well as my family there to see me cross the finish line.
Thank you to everyone for all of the generous donations and support. There were a few tears on such an emotional day.
