Oscar racing the MTB World Championships and U19 Nations Cup Road Cycling

Hi I'm Oscar Talbot, I'm 17 years old and I have been given the opportunity to race for the New Zealand National team at both the 2025 U19 MTB XCO World Championships in Valais Switzerland, and a Nations Cup road biking in Quebec Canada.

In mid July I was a part of a 6 man team that went to Canada to race the Tour de l'Abitibi Nations Cup where we raced against some of the best junior riders in the world over 7 different stages. The first few days were spent learning how a field at this level races as it was my first international road race but by the end I started to see some results. By the end of the 7 stages I ended up in 17th GC (General Classification) 9th in the KOM (King of the Mountain) and 23rd in the Sprint Classification. Throughout the 7 stages my best result on the day was a 8th on stage 7.

On the 25th of August I will depart from NZ to Switzerland where I will have my eyes set on two different events. The first event is a Swiss Cup in Les Genevez which is a week before the World Champs where I will be lining up on the start line of the race I've been dreaming of doing for years.

Even though both events are with the NZ national team they are both fully self funded meaning any donations will be hugely appreciated!
