  • Chemo 4 update

      25 April 2025

Since my last update, life has been a total whirlwind, sometimes very overwhelming

I had a scan recently to check the progress of the chemo on the tumour in the breast and lymph nodes

This was to determine how effective chemo has been

I was absolutely blown away, as was my doctor who did the scan

    My cancer has shrunk considerably

It is now only 9mm big

It has shrunk 75 per cent!!

This means i continue on with Chemo

I have session 5 next tuesday

Because of the generosity of you all here, i was also able to start treatment with Pertuzumab in chemo 4

So on a tuesday i do 5 hours with chemo, and i take a non reaction drug first

Then on Wednesday after chemo i have the Pertuzumab

    This is administered via IV

Both have their own side effects, so that was alot harder then just chemo alone

But i know, and i keep reminding myself of the results so far, and the hope of trying to keep this cancer reoccuring and helping me back to better health and recovery

I am forever thanful to you all

I am far from the finish line, still along way to go

Chem and Pertuzumab are just a piece in the puzzle, but i continue to push foward and fight to cross that line

With all the aroha to you all

  • Update - Chemo round 3

      23 March 2025
    Main image

    Chemo 3 done

This round has been abit harder

I am feeling the side effects of chemo more now

    Chemo brain a big one

I have an appointment booked for a scan on 7th of April to see if the chemo has been effective at shrinking the cancer

    Fingers crossed

I personally think it has shrunk a lot

The 4th session of chemo will be on the 8th of April where the addition of the unfunded drug will start

It will be a long day, doing chemo, then I head to Kensington to have given

7ish hour stint for the day 😞

The scan will also tell us weather the chemo has been successful in helping shrink the cancer, if so chemo continues

If not enough, the next step is chemo stops, just unfunded will be administered

    And I go to mastectomy

    And on it goes

I want to thank you all for you kind kind donations

This enables me to start and helps toward the treatment I need to keep the percentage of this cancer spreading elsewhere, in my favor, and also a better outcome to recovery of this breast cancer

    I am thankful beyond words

I await a decision from an application to KiwiSaver to help fund towards the treatment and helping me take sometime of work to get better

It is a hard process to go through, and sad that it is hard for people at a time they need help the most

I hope they come to the party and help

I remain forever positive, and I will keep pushing ahead

I am so blessed beyond words to have such wonderful people in my life

    Grateful 💕🎀

  • Update ahead of round 2 of chemo

      24 February 2025
    Main image

Michelle goes in the 2nd Chemo treatment on Tuesday.

Her symptoms so far have been up and down but pretty manageable and she has been having better days than not and her spirits remain high.

After the 3rd treatment end of March, she will have scans to see how effective the chemo has been

If chemo has been successful in shrinking the cancer, chemo continues to another 3 sessions

She then will have what is left removed and onto radiation

If it hasn’t shrunk enough, chemo stops and she goes into mastectomy

    Then radiation

The drug that the oncologist has recommended and not funded to give her a 65 percent chance of the cancer not popping up elsewhere will be administered with her Chemotherapy

If it stops, she will receive it via infusion

She remains positive, and very thankful for you all

She knows that it could change and the road become harder

But she also knows this is the only way to get rid of cancer

She will continue to fight and take it as it comes 🤍

    Chemotherapy round 1 done!

    Round2/6 end of month

    So far few side effects

Mouth ulcers, mouth is raw inside

    Tiredness

    Sore tummy everyday

    Much slower, forgetful

    Can’t drink tea or coffee

    Food turns your tummy

    Taste of metal

I’ve been very lucky, no vomiting or feeling of bad nausea

I try to keep normality in my life

I try to do small walks everyday

I know things may get worse or maybe remain the same as i get more Chemo

    Im not sure

But Ill do my best to remain positive as I go, and take it as it comes

Third session of Chemo in March, the oncologist will do a scan to see if the chemo is working to shrink the cancer

If not enough, we go to plan B

I remain positive and fingers crossed its working

Thank you so very much to everyone who has donated, shared the page or reached out. Your support means so very much to me and I will be forever grateful. Thank you xx
