It's nearly been a year since Blueys accident. She'd doing so well! She's still running around, loves catching a stick or her toy rubber ring. She can swim, just a bit slower. Bluey gets lots of attention everywhere we go. Kids often say :look this dog has only one leg. Haha. Thank you again to everyone that has donated and thought of us. Although we couldn't save her leg we saved Bluey and it was definitely the right choice.

Bluey had her hopefully last vet visit last week. They took the staples out and the wound is healing nicely. Bluey is getting her energy back and is doing so well

Bluey is doing well. She has an appointment to get the staples out next week. Had to wear a cone to stop her licking the wounds

She had her first night at home and is doing very well. She jumped on finyas bed as she loves to sleep at the bottom of the bed and she made it up 2nd go. She is resting at the workshop today on the couch with her buddy boomer

I picked bluey up this morning from the vet in Christchurch and brought her home. She is walking incredibly well on her three legs. She is tiered and needs lots of rest. We had lots of cuddles

Hello everyone. Firstly a huge thank you for your generosity.

Update on Bluey : we can't save her leg due to various reasons. The risk that it doesn't heal properly or her nerves are damaged, also a lot of rehab is needed are probably the main ones. Apart from the cost, which is huge as well.

We have decided to amputate her front leg rather then putting her down. Her operation is tomorrow morning in Christchurch and we will pick her up on Thursday. The estimated total costs are approx $4800. This includes the initial assessment, x-ray etc. The cost of having her on iv morphine and looked after at the vet for 4days. In hindsight we could have avoided some of the costs but hindsight is always great, isn't it.

We are hoping we made the right decision for Bluey and that she can adapt to her three legs well. We have done some research on 3 legged dogs and found positive feedback. I will post an update as soon as we hear from the vet. Thank you, Hannah
