$1,418 of $5,000 goal
Given by 7 generous donors in around 12 months

We appreciate every dollar. Our family dog got hit by a car and needs medical care

West Coast

UPDATE: we couldn't save her leg for several reasons and decided to go with the amputation of her leg. Keep an eye on the 'updates' to follow her story.

--

While taking our dog Bluey for a walk in a paddock near Lachies parents house she found a rabbit and started chasing it. She ran through a gap in the fence we didn't know about onto a quiet country road, at that exact moment a car drove past. Unfortunately she got hit by the car and flew at least 50m down the road!

Very lucky not to be killed.

She broke a leg and has cuts and bruising all over.

She is currently at the vet after hours. Her broken leg needs a surgery to get it fixed. We will know more details on Monday but the estimated vet bill will be around $8000+ to get her leg plated.

We rescued Bluey when she was about 6mnth old. She grew up with our daughter, always followed her around to make sure she's safe. Bluey has a very loving and caring nature, she notices when anyone in our family is unwell and comes to give a cuddle. I will ad more photos to the gallery.

She looks after our family and now it's time for us to look after her.

If you could spare some money to help us cover the costs of getting her fixed up it would be greatly appreciated!

We will keep you updated about how Bluey is doing and about the actual vet costs.

Update on bluey  13 June 2025

It's nearly been a year since Blueys accident. She'd doing so well! She's still running around, loves catching a stick or her toy rubber ring. She can swim, just a bit slower. Bluey gets lots of attention everywhere we go. Kids often say :look this dog has only one leg. Haha. Thank you again to everyone that has donated and thought of us. Although we couldn't save her leg we saved Bluey and it was definitely the right choice.
