  • Hamish's update

      29 May 2019

Hamish was medically repatriated back to Perth on Saturday and has been in hospital since. He has undergone an angiogram and it was then decided to do anther procedure. This was done yesterday. Hamish had a stent and coils inserted in the aneurysm site as it was incomplete. He is doing really well and will be discharged from hospital soon.

Following the latest CT scan it Hamish was given a fit to fly. He is being medically repatriated to Perth tonight with mum. He was going to Bangkok but in consultation with specialists it was decided he could travel with the assistance of a Doctor to Perth. Hamish is doing well. He gets tired very quickly and still has some recovering to do. He will be transferred to a hospital in Perth where he will undergo another procedure to complete the aneurysm part that was missed. Hamish, Mum, Dad and myself would like to thank you all for your continued support, and love. It means a lot. Safe travels Hamish 💕

Hamish is still in ICU in Phuket and is quite tired daily. They are reducing his vasospasm meds slowly and they are for 3 weeks post op. He has another CT scan on Thursday 16th. I’ll post another update with the results once we have them.

Also we are extending the page to close on June 30th as we need more time to raise funds for his loss of income, family expenses such as flights and accommodation over over to Thailand to care for Hamish. He needs one person with him until he is able to be self sufficient when he is back in Oz. So your donations will help with Hamish with his loss of income as he only has about 8 sick hours owing, flights and expenses for the family carer while in Thailand and eventually getting Hamish back to Australia.

Also, we have received news that his travel insurance for medical costs have been accepted which is brilliant!

Hamish is still in ICU in hospital in Phuket recovering from his craniotomy. He is on medication for vasospasm and just last night had another horrendous headache. He is still mainly bed bound although he is doing physio daily to be able to regain his strength. I have come back to NZ now to be with my children and our dad has too for work so regular skype chats are great. Mum is still in Phuket looking after Hamish but will have to come back for work and either Dad or myself will be travelling back to support Hamish. We are all quite concerned about him and the 2 weeks in Phuket was very stressful worrying about his health and also trying to sort out travel insurance claim and other administration matters. Poor Hamish has lost his independence and hopefully he will re gain it back in the not too distant future. Thanks to the wonderful nurses and doctors at the hospital and everyone for their love and support x

Hamish is still in critical condition in ICU at Bangkok Hospital Phuket. His condition is different daily. Yesterday he slept most of the day. His head was sore and he had another CT scan to check vasal spasms in his brain. Today he is sleeping a lot but seems to be reasonably comfy. He is breathing by himself. He can’t get out of bed and is still expected to be in ICU for at least another 3-4 days. We haven’t been notified as to whether his travel insurance claim has been accepted and the costs are rising. I will update you on travel insurance once we know. Thanks all. Rachel Allan and Trish xx

Hamish is in critical condition in ICU in Bangkok Phuket hospital. After his swelling and headaches he was given medicine and this has helped take the swelling away. He is resting a lot with sleep and today was chatting when awake. He hasn’t got up to walk yet and is still in his bed daily. We visit him as much as we can but need to allow him his rest. He will be here in hospital for at least 3 weeks. Once again thanks to the Bangkok Phuket Hospital staff. Nurses. Doctors and everyone here helping Hamish. We are so grateful. And thanks to everyone for your kind messages of well wishes and generous donations. 💕

  • UPDATE

      29 April 2019

Hamish had his brain surgery on Friday night which took 6 hours. He is currently recovering in ICU in Phuket hospital. He has an infection and swelling around his eye and minor headaches. He is talking between sleeping and his condition is critical. We are visiting as much as we can (mum, Dad, myself and his son) while noting he needs to recover and have sleep. He will need to be in ICU for at least a week and then another 2 weeks in rehab/recovery.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes, donations and messages of love and support. We really appreciate it. I will update you again soon.

    Rachel (sister)
