Our little retirement house was trashed and we are as retired we have limited funds to fix.
Manawatu / Whanganui
In December 2017 two days prior to moving to our little house from a rental home we found the house had been trashed by out going tenants of the previous owner. As we had given notice at the rental, had a lovely old dog and cat to care for and had no family here, we had to settle and move in.
It was also right on Christmas and because I sustained a fall on a concrete deck on moving day I was unable to walk or stand for weeks.
There was not one room without large holes, the vanity had been broken, there was rubbish ground into carpet and curtain rails and curtains ripped and flour and washing powder scattered throughout. Light fittings were broken. kitchen tap broken and the ranch slider broken, back steps broken and cupboards kicked in at the sides in the kitchen, refuse throughout the grounds and it was filthy.
The kitchen bench has what appears to be hammer marks.
As we went ahead and legally settled, the compensation we got was not enough to put things right and it was extremely upsetting to have to fight for what little we did get. Now we are fighting to hang on and fix things. I can not understand why anyone could do this to us as we have had more than our share of heartbreak. Neither of us cope with things as well as we used to and have been losing heart. If anyone feels they could give a little we would be grateful.
Funds will be used to repair the damage to the house and help us recover what we have already lost. If there was any surplus we would put it towards helping our 2 daughters travel from a long way away to see us.
