NZGCF ovarian cancer appeal educating on the signs and symptoms to reduce late stage diagnosis and reduce the death rate from Ovarian Cancer

Nationwide

Every little donation helps us to achieve our goal.

The New Zealand Gynaecological Cancer Foundation (NZGCF), established in 2007, works to raise awareness of these cancers with women and health professionals around the country.

We inform and educate women of the possible symptoms of these diseases through public forums and information displays - because we know that early detection can save lives.

We also support women affected by gynaecological cancer at all stages through their journey.

The NZGCF receives no government funding and our work is only made possible by the generosity of the New Zealand public.

We love women and we want all women to lead healthy, happy and fulfilling lives. Sadly in New Zealand, too many women are affected by 1 of the 5 main gynaecological cancers.

Cervical

Endometrial (Uterine)

Ovarian

Vaginal

Vulval

The statistics are sobering.

Every day, around the country 1 woman dies every 48 hours from Ovarian Cancer. The survival rate for Ovarian Cancer sits at 39% and over a five year period the overall survival in women diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer has not changed over the past 10 years. We need to improve this outcome.

We need to break down the stigma associated with talking about our gynaecological health, w need to increase our conversations about our gynaecological health before we loose another woman to this disease.

Ovarian cancer is the second leading gynaecological cancer in New Zealand, but is the most common cause of gynaecological cancer deaths. Around 270+ women in New Zealand are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year and the majority of women are diagnosed in the advance stage. Unfortunately, to date, there is no effective screening to detect early ovarian cancer which is why our education and awareness appeal is essential for women learning the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer as early diagnosis can save lives.

Please help support our appeal, make a difference!

Donate and share.
