Kitchen equipment needed to nourish hungry children

What children eat at school impacts their learning, health and future. Support us to make good food affordable for children at school.

Bay of Plenty

Ka Pai Kai Rotorua is a not-for-profit school lunch service. We provide lunches at cost, or below cost because we know that children who eat a nutritious lunch do better at school than those who eat junk.

Thanks to generous sponsors, volunteers and donors, we are able to sell healthy food at a price that can compete with pies, sausage rolls, and packets of chips.

We currently provide nutritious lunches to 7 schools in Rotorua but the demand for our lunches is exceeding our capacity, and we can't continue to provide nutritious lunches without a new warmer oven. Unfortunately warmer ovens of the appropriate size are hard to come by and cost in excess of $10,000.

Ka Pai Kai Rotorua depends on volunteers, donations and sponsorship to keep the cost of our lunches low. We know from local research that parents want to provide healthy food to their children, but cost is a barrier. We do not aim to replace the work of charities like KidsCan that provide free food to children with none; our aim is to make healthy food affordable.

Please support us to continue nourishing the minds of our future generation - donate to our cause today!

About us

Ka Pai Kai Rotorua volunteers make healthy school lunches that we sell to children at cost, or at a subsidised rate. We believe all children deserve a healthy, nourishing meal.

Use of funds

We will use all funds raised to purchase an essential piece of of kitchen equipment - a 10-tray warmer oven. Any surplus funds will be used to cover the petrol costs of our volunteer delivery drivers, or to subsidise the cost of children's lunches.
