I'm doing the Oxfam Trailwalker 100km walk while stuck in a compound. Only 250 laps to go!
Wellington
Call me crazy, but I've decided to do the Oxfam Trailwalker again. This is normally a 100km event done in a team of 4 (shout out to Sam, Michael and Michelle for doing this with me last time in Korea!). But this year is a different kettle of fish. India is still under very tight restrictions due to COVID, so this year the event has gone 'virtual'!
I'll still be walking 100km, but this time I have 10 days to complete the task. And I'll be doing it solo (hello, social distancing!). And because that doesn't sound crazy enough, I'm currently unable to leave to compound where I live. Each lap of the inside is around 400m. So that's 250 laps of the compound over 10 days. How hard can it be?
This Trailwalker is also a little special for another reason. Some of you may have heard of the migrant workers in India who had to walk hundreds of kilometres without food, water or shelter to get back to their families when India suddenly went in lockdown in March. The funds raised this year will go to supporting Oxfam India's work to help these workers and their families. Here's some information about what these workers have been going through: https://www.nationalgeographic.com/history/2020/05/they-treat-us-like-stray-dogs-migrant-workers-flee-india-cities/
I'm raising funds for Oxfam India by doing the Oxfam Trailwalker
All funds will go to Oxfam's work in India, supporting migrant workers who have lost their jobs during the COVID-19 lockdown.
