Spark is supporting Indian Red Cross Society's Covid response. Raising funds to buy oxygen concentrators locally in NZ to ship to India.

The surge in Covid cases in India has led to a huge demand for oxygen and hospital beds and as a result India’s health infrastructure is struggling to cope.

To prevent deaths, oxygen and ventilation equipment is critical as it gives people with Covid time for their immune system to kick in and tackle the virus. Given the huge number of cases it’s no surprise that oxygen supplies in India are in very short supply, and in high demand.

We’re focusing our efforts on supporting the Indian Red Cross Society through a fund raising campaign to source oxygen equipment locally here in New Zealand and ship it to India. Our goal is $60,000 NZD which will cover the cost of 25 oxygen concentrators which we'll source locally, then send to the Indian Red Cross Society for them to use on-the-ground in their support efforts.

Use of funds

Our goal is to raise $60,000 to purchase 25 oxygen concentrators from a local supplier in Auckland, which we will send to the Indian Red Cross Society for them to use on-the-ground in their Covid-19 response. Surplus funds will be donated to New Zealand Red Cross.

Thank you so much for the kind donation you made to our fundraising effort to raise $60,000 to purchase and send 25 oxygen concentrators to India to help support people affected with Covid.

Thanks to generous people like yourself we reached our fundraising goal three days early and we are excited to let you know that we expect the oxygen equipment to leave New Zealand this weekend and make its way to the Red Cross in India.

In addition, during the fundraising period we were able to negotiate better rates for the oxygen contractors. Once we get the confirmation of freight costs from the provider, we would be able to send the savings to the New Zealand Red Cross.
