Ozzy's Head injury with the overdue Vet Bill!
Bombay, Auckland
Hello there, thank you for reading about Ozzy.
My beautiful man had a bad fall and hit his head causing brain swelling and damage. The result of this was blindness, staggering, muscle spasm and disorientation for over 9 days.
I have a $3,700 vet bill that I am struggling to pay.
Ozzy is recovering very well. He has lost the sight in one eye but maybe in time this will mend.
He has exceeded all of the Vets expectations and I just know we did the right thing
Maybe I should not have been foolish enough to spend money I know I did not have but I just could not say goodbye to my friend.
I would very much appreciate any help anyone could feel they could give me.
Thank you for your time.
All money will go directly to Veterinary Associates who the account is with.
Any portion would be a great blessing. If extra was raised I will buy well needed feed for Ozzy in his recovery period.
Dearest Ozzy 21 November 2023
It is with a shattered heart I need to tell you that my beautiful Ozzy has passed away.
What we had seen as great improvements were just that but then he started to go downhill quite quickly again.
He was tripping on the smallest of dips in ground then stumbling, becoming very agitated if anything was around or touching his blind side but at same time not wanting to be separated from his 2 mates.
You could not lead him without him walking on you due to him not really knowing where you were.
Each day we would find new bumps or scratches on his body or more concerning his head.
Through a different Vet with many hours of consideration, consultation and compassion he explained that most horses who had brain injuries do not recover well. Many horses with a hit to the head from rearing up and landing on their back ( hitting head) do not survive let alone 3 times like Ozzy had in 36 hours.
Ozzy was put to sleep on the 8th of November here at home and buried on top of our hill where he can forever watch over us.
I should have let you all know sooner but just could not bring myself to write the words.
Your generosity, love, encouragement and kindness has been tremendous and will never be forgotten. Thank you all so very very much.
Much love to you all
Linda
