Tēnā koutou, Yesterday 11/03/2025 the steel wall supports were erected and bolted down.

The block layers completed the verandah walls around the wooden poles in preparation for more steel reinforcing for concrete walls.

Once the shutters for the walls are erected the truckloads of concrete will be rolling in, hopefully in the next week or two.

    25/03/2025

E te whanau, things are starting to take shape fast. The kaimahi have been preparing the floor cavity with the large polystyrene blocks.

The weather has been cooler in the morning with some fog but hot and humid once it lifts. Concreting of the floor is looking good. Hopefully by the end of the week.

It was a beautiful morning to activate our mauri stones into the foundations of our wharenui hou.

This process has taken a while, due to the elevating of our floor area to the agreed new height with input from hau kainga, trustees and Apa Architect. At the completion of the takutaku karakia and mihi a pure/cleansing was held in our awa. We then completed our kaupapa with a karakia and mihimihi in the whare tawhito followed by a kai tahi.

Ngā mihi maioha atu ki wēra o te hau kainga i whakaoti pai ai tē kaupapa hira nei.

Mauri ora ki a tātou katoa.

  • Foundation and Block Work Update.

      24 January 2025

Tēnā koutou, these photos were taken yesterday after work on the rebuild resumed on Monday 20 Jan. Approximately 70 plus truckloads of metal have been carted from Taheke quarry, The metal is being spread over a wider area and then compacted to form a larger footprint. This will form the base of the foundation so blockwork and reinforcing can begin to build the structure to raise the floor level to 1400mm above ground level. Due to the change in height of the building the floor area plan will be moved 2 metres further in from the boundary to meet the code of compliance. Once the required level of the metal has been compacted and correct height met, the engineer will inspect to approve this so the profiles for the blockwork can commence. The mauri stones will be activated once the area has been mapped and discussions had with Site Manager Josh and the Taumata Korero.

23/01/2025 Ka nui te mihi ora whanau, no workers today but the floor area has been completed and is planned to be inspected by engineer this afternoon.

Once cleared for approval to continue, the kaimahi will return on Monday to set profiles for the floorplan and pillar holes. The surveyor will check this off. Once we can find the areas to safely activate the mauri stones, that process will happen first thing early the next morning.

    Mihi hikaka ana
