Papatoetoe RSA needs you

The Return Serviceman Association "R.S.A" was developed in New Zealand by returning Anzacs from World War One to remember, honour and support those who were affected/touched by service for New Zealand.

Majority of New Zealanders will be connected to someone who either committed their lives to protect this country or to those who had to hold their breath and prey that their loved one returns home; or worse, the tragedy of losing a loved one and never seeing them again.

There are many RSA's set up around New Zealand, each an entity of their own. Papatoetoe RSA located in Auckland is a place that thrives off connection, off community service and offers a place where people can come together and support the local community - whilst also having a place where one can go and be in the company of great people - whether it be joining a sports section, fundraising, or simply just a place where families can go for a nice dinner or even for the blokes to have a cheeky beer and a friendly game of 8ball.

Over the last few years many RSA's have been closed down through lack of patrons, support or even just the lack of information being passed down through generations. RSAs hold an outlandish stigma which has unfortunately lead to closure. Yes the older generation tend to be the majority in RSAs, though the Papatoetoe RSA is gaining new and younger members all the time who would like the opportunity to continue the tradition for years to come.

Papatoetoe RSA is one that is trying to stay alive - one that would like to keep honouring returning serviceman of New Zealand and one that would like to stay open to keep supporting the local communities.

So we are asking ,something we have tried to avoid, but we are asking. We are asking for donations to ensure we can continue to operate. The Papatoetoe RSA building is old, and the roof is literally falling to pieces. Your kindly gifted money would go towards repairing the roof so that it does not collapse on the patrons, and thus ultimately avoiding a complete collapse in operations and closure.
